I trained to be a sports journalist with the rigor of an athlete. Positive reinforcement comes during while I’m a cub reporter: the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation awards me 1989’s (national) Michele Clark Fellowship, which signifies a journalist to watch.

Becoming a licensed boxing judge, boxing coach, basketball referee, and NASCAR specialist, I enhance the information background I began with my father before turning 10.

And, voilà, during 21 years as a TV sports and news reporter, I take credibility, tact, and polish into interviews with Mrs. Rosa Parks, other high-profile newsmakers, and major athletes.

I changed course and careers because I had to. Successful at making the pivot myself, I currently work hand-in-hand with others who must erect new goalposts and aim for them.

Because I had to battle for my own fair treatment, I became a subject-matter expert on U.S. civil rights.

I'm a survivor of the economic lynching of my beloved journalism career.
